Review: Urban Decay Super-Saturated Ultra Intense Waterproof Cream Eyeliner

Good afternoon! Due to my love of doing winged liner, I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect cream/gel based eyeliner. I find it much easier and more precise to work with than liquid & pencil, partially because using a brush is a great tool that can work for you in making a flawless line. My old standby up till now has been L’Oréal Infallible Gel Lacquer Liner ($9.99;Ulta), which is a great alternative but has some issues with transferring to the upper lid late in the day. I’ve recently been on a bit of an Urban Decay kick, so I decided to try out their new Super-Saturated Ultra Intense Waterproof Cream Eyeliner in Perversion ($22; Urban Decay, Sephora).

Packaging: the packaging is really solid and pretty. It’s made of glass, but the glass is very thick; I’ve already dropped it on a marble floor to no effect. The lid is a metallic gunmetal grey with the Urban Decay logo in the center. I was initially taken aback by how little you get for the price, but considering how small an amount you end up using it quickly became a non-issue.

Color: The color is a deep black that dries to a matte finish. It is VERY pigmented, so a little goes a long way! You don’t have to go over it too much to get solid color.

Application: the formula is very creamy and glides on smoothly. It’s pretty easy to get a perfect line. The only caveat to that is the formula dries very quickly compared to others I’ve tried, so you pretty much have to get it right the first time. It’s also worth noting how easy this formula is to remove at the end of the day. I use a little bit of cream cleanser and it comes right off, which is great; personally I hate grinding into my eye to remove makeup that won’t budge.

Longevity: I am very impressed with how well this formula wears. I’ve tested it every day this week and had no transferring to my upper lid at the end of the day. After hour 9 there is some flaking if you move your eyelids around (like rubbing your eyes) but it only happened once – I had been using eyedrops and rubbing all day (I feel asleep in my contacts which left them super dry that day). I have had absolutely no issue with smudging.

Conclusion: This is my new go-to eyeliner! Its very long lasting, ultra pigmented and easy to apply. I highly recommend this one!

    1. Thanks! I used the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette on my crease and outer corner and the shiny center color is “Birthday Suit” from the Too Faced Boudoir eyes palette.
