When September hits, this pretty much sums it up for me…
I decided it would be nice this year to grab some pumpkin perfumes to kick off the autumn season. Unfortunately, I was having a tough time finding anything not in oil form (or from Bath & Body works. Their mists do not smell good to me at all. Dunno why). I asked over at Musings of a Muse and Isabella kindly pointed me towards a site called Lathers & Lights.
Lather & Lights have a bunch of different bath, body and home scents. I stuck to the perfume section this time, but next time I think I’ll have to grab some lotion/body butter. I have to comment on the sheer number of scents they have on the website! It was super hard to pick just three. But pick I did, so here’s the scoop!
Price: The price for all their perfumes is $18 per 30mL. Both times I’ve been on the site they’ve been running sales though, so the cost was much lower (right now there’s a 25% off sale going on sitewide).
Packaging: Everything was capped & bubble wrapped inside the box. It was also carefully secured with paper. I had no problems with leaking and whatnot. The package also included a cute rubber ducky and a whole lot of lotion samples. After trying a couple of them, I’ve got a few things to add to my wish list!
The scents are all clearly labeled and have ingredient listings on the back. I don’t have particularly strong feelings about the bottles themselves. They don’t really stand out, but the smell is what’s really important. 😊
“Hand pressed apple cider with mulling spices.“
This one is part of the Halloween collection. I was going full pumpkin at first, but this one sounded so good I had to try it. The description is pretty dead on; It’s a good blend of apple and spices, with neither of them being overpowered by the other. At first it was slightly more cinnamony, but after about an hour it moves to a more nuanced spice scent. It’s exactly what I was hoping it would be.
After about 5ish hours, the scent becomes less apple and more of an unidentifiable fruit. The spices take a back seat, more and more after this until by the end of day there’s a just a sweet fruit smell. I’d say this one has pretty good longevity all in all. It lasted in some form all day.
I do want to note, the scent contains cinnamon, which can be irritating (there is a warning on the site). It definitely stung my inner arms a bit, but nowhere else I sprayed. I don’t know if I’m just more sensitive there or what, but you definitely want to be aware of that possibility!
“A perfect melding of our favorite pumpkin scents all in one glorious blend! Sugary pumpkin, spicy pumpkin, fresh pumpkin…all the yummy pumpkins we love to sniff!“
This is from the Pumpkin Patch collection. Let me tell ya, if you are a fan of pumpkin scents, you will definitely find something here to love! I counted over 60 flavors in that section alone (before I gave up, lol).
On first application it smells like a sweet spiced pumpkin. After about an hour the flavors deepen a bit and I get an iced pumpkin pie/pumpkin spice mix. Very yummy! After about 7 hours (this one was quite long lasting) I noticed the spices had mostly dissipated and I was left with a strong vanilla smell with a light undertone of pumpkin. By the end pf the night it had settled to a lovely vanilla. It was a bit surprising, but pleasant. This one kind of amazed me with how long it lasted. I put it on at noon, and I could still smell it (in vanilla form by this point) at midnight.
“Warm and cozy, sweet pumpkin blends pumpkin puree with sweet cream, molasses, and hints of sugar and spice.”
I picked this one because the description sounds like my mum’s recipe for pumpkin pie filling. At first spray it smells like a syrupy pumpkin spice with an extra dose of cinnamon. Once it dried down though, it was all cinnamon. It smelled like those Red Hot candies from when I was younger! Super delicious, but not at all what I was looking for.
I was prepared to be slightly disappointed by this one, until I smelled it again an hour later. Somehow the super cinnamon had turned into a delicious creamy, nutty molasses pumpkin with spices. I can’t stop smelling this one. As the day wears on (about 6ish hours), it turns fainter and creamier. This one had the shortest longevity but lasted me till the end of the day, just lighter.
Final Thoughts: I’ve really enjoyed the perfumes I’ve tried from Lathers & Lights. If you enjoy food based scents, you’re sure to find something you like on their site. The prices are reasonable as well. I definitely recommend!
